Our services

Speech, Language & Voice

We assess and treat impairments to speech, language, and voice which may be caused by brain injury (stroke or head injury) or neurogenerative disease. With every client, our approach prioritises the goals of the individual and how they use speech, language and voice in their day-to-day lives to develop personalised programs to support their needs.

Parkinson’s Disease

Bondi Waves has a particular interest in supporting people living with Parkinson’s to improve their speech, voice and swallow. We are certified in the delivery of LSVT Loud and SPEAK OUT! intensive therapy programs. These are both widely regarded as the gold standard for improving the communication and maintaining the swallow of people with Parkinson’s. We are also proud to host weekly LOUD CROWD! group therapy on conclusion of a course of intensive therapy.

Swallowing

Impairments in swallowing (dysphagia) are not uncommon. Dysphagia is often a result of the natural aging process. However, it has many other causes, including brain injury, progressive illness, and deconditioning following surgery or illness. Swallowing issues are also a concern arising in the palliative stages of life.

We work with individuals, private hospitals, and aged care facilities to identify and manage swallowing impairments (dysphagia) causing discomfort, nutritional risk and, more seriously, risk of choking or grave illness.

We also provide important education on dysphagia to individuals, hospital and aged care facility staff, and families and carers of dysphagia sufferers.

Service Delivery

We provide individual assessment and therapy services home visits or, where suitable, to work with us remotely over video conference (telehealth). We have access to private consultation rooms where preferred.

Our service fees may be eligible for Medicare or private health rebate claim depending on your circumstances and level of cover. A GP referral for Chronic Disease Management Plan is required for Medicare rebate. We work with participants in the NDIS who are self-managed or plan managed and we frequently subcontract for providers of Aged Care Plans.

“We speak not only to tell other people what we think, but to tell ourselves what we think. Speech is a part of thought.”
